Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi met with Denmark ambassador to Tehran Christian Haugaard on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

Boroujerdi told his Danish visitor here that cancellation of European Parliament delegation visit to Iran was an unsuccessful test for European countries, adding that the issue questions the independence of the parliament.

He underlined that the Europeans, in their ties with other countries, should take decisions independently and far from powerful states' pressures.

The MP also said Majlis stands ready to expand ties with Denmark in different political, economic and cultural fields, adding that there exist good capacities between Iran and all European Union states which can be used by mutual consultation and dialogue.

According to the report of Majlis News and Mass Media Bureau, Boroujerdi called for an open atmosphere for negotiation between Iran and the EU and stressed that considering current developments in the region, especially situation in Afghanistan and Iraq, consultation of the EU states with Iran can help better understanding of the situation.

Meanwhile, he criticized West's discriminatory viewpoints and dual policy concerning human rights issues.

Haugaard, for his part, referred to regional developments such as situation in Bahrain and said that Denmark's stance on Bahrain is close to Iran's.
