Four individuals from African countries have been arrested in Iran, on counterfeiting charges, Mehr reported.

According to Iran's Immigration and Passport issues police department chief, General Mahmoud Sadeghi, the arrested group of people were engaged in production and distribution of "black dollars" at Iranian markets.

To avoid detection by customs, piles of banknote-sized paper is dyed black, or any other color, which can be later washed off with special chemicals, to get a fake banknote.

Sadeghi said that the Migration Police officers carried out an operation, and captured the counterfeiters in Southern Tehran.

Upon arrest, the police seized fake dollars, "black dollars", some chemicals, and Euros from the captives.

The detained counterfeiters were arrested and taken to police headquarters.
