Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Saturday that holding drills in the country aim at strengthening the defense capabilities of the armed forces against the enemies.

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Saturday that holding drills in the country aim at strengthening the defense capabilities of the armed forces against the enemies, IRNA reported.

Jafari told reporters that the maneuvers do not seek to make any actions against "our friends and neighbors."

He then stressed that Iran's military and naval drills are held to test the defense readiness of the armed forces.

Iran today held second day of specialized naval drill, dubbed "Velayat-91". The drill inaugurated on Friday to display the country's capabilities and send a message of friendship to neighboring countries.

Iran's Navy commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said displaying the capabilities of Iran's armed forces and the Navy to defend the country's water borders and interests in line with establishing durable security in the region and conveying the message of peace and friendship to the neighboring states are among the objectives of the six-day drill.

Different classes of heavy and light submarines, logistic and missile-launching warships and frigates as well as Alborz and Sabalan destroyers participated in the first day of the drill.
