Jalili: Iran-Afghanistan relations consolidated

Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili in a meeting with President Hamid Karzai here on Saturday afternoon called mutual relations consolidated based on deep historical friendship in the days of happiness and sadness, IRNA reported.

In the meeting, Jalili praised Afghan people for their bright background in not accepting aliens and fighting against occupiers.

He expressed pleasure with process of formation and consolidation of national government in Afghanistan and expressed Iran's readiness to transfer its experiences in different fields for more security development, progress and prosperity for Afghan people.

President Karzai described relations between the two countries 'excellent' adding that strengthening ties in recent years has been desire of both nations.

In another meeting, Jalili discussed issues of mutual interest with Afghanistan's National Security Advisor Rangeen Dadfar Spanta on Saturday morning.

The two sides underlined necessity of more consultations and dialogue between officials.

Spanta also underlined necessity of expansion of cooperation between the two countries and said that economic projects such as goods transit, cooperation in Bandar Chabahar and using railways are important for stability and peace in the region.

Jalili had also meetings with first and second vice-presidents of Afghanistan on Saturday morning.

First Vice-President Mohammad Qasim Fahim and second Vice-President Mohammad Karim Khalili in their meetings with Saeed Jalili appreciated Iran's brotherly support for Afghanistan during the war.

Jalili arrived here on Friday evening to meet with Afghanistan president and other senior officials of the country.
