The Iranian nation will give a strong response to the enemies by participating in the upcoming vote, Presidential hopeful Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday, ISNA news agency reported.

The former foreign minister noted that Iranians defend the principles of the Islamic revolution and will make a strong showing on the political scene whenever they deem it necessary.

Mottaki added that the enemies wrongly assumed in the past that they could undermine elections by pressuring Iran.

Mottaki served as foreign minister for five years. He's now affiliated with the conservative camp.

The eleventh election of the President of Iran is scheduled to be held on 14 June 2013 to elect the seventh President, successor of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is barred from standing for a third term. The elections will take place on the same day as local council elections.
