Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has expressed Iran's preparedness to participate in the upcoming international Geneva conference on Syria, Press TV reported.

"If invited, we will definitely take part at the international Geneva conference on Syria," Salehi said at a Saturday joint press conference with his visiting Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour in Tehran.

On May 7, Russia and the United States agreed in Moscow to convene an international conference on Syria. The meeting is scheduled to be held on June 25 in Geneva and it will serve as a follow-up to an earlier Geneva meeting held in June 2012.

Salehi, however, noted, "If a meeting is supposed to result in delivery of more arms to the mercenaries, prolongation of the Syrian crisis, and destruction of its (Syria's) infrastructure, we will not participate in that."

"I reiterate that sending weapons will not help Syrian interests or the countries in the region. Sending weapons means [the] continuation of violence, and that means [the] destruction of Syria and its integrity and it will also destroy the region," Lebanese foreign minister added.

The Iranian and Lebanese foreign ministers rejected foreign intervention in Syria and underscored the importance of dialogue for resolving the crisis.
