Iran has managed to gain an advanced technology for manufacturing turbofans, the Fars News Agency reported.
The turbofan or fanjet is a type of airbreathing jet engine that is widely used for aircraft propulsion. The word "turbofan" is a portmanteau of "turbine" and "fan", the turbo portion refers to a gas turbine engine which takes mechanical energy from combustion, and the fan, a ducted fan which uses the mechanical energy from the gas turbine to accelerate air rearwards.
Due to international sanctions the foreign manufacturer did not export the turbofans to Iran even at higher prices.
So, Iranian engineers embarked on manufacturing the equipment through reverse engineering.
The equipment had been imported at 15 billion rials (about $1.22 million), but the Iranian experts managed to manufacture it within 5 months at 2.85 billion rials.
The needed raw material, which is used in the body of missiles, was provided by a domestic company.
