Iran's police has seized 16,400 satellite TV channels receiver hardware worth $806,700 from smugglers, Iranian police commander in Morality Issues, Masoud Zahedian said, Mehr news agency reported.
About 125 member of the smuggling band have been arrested, he said.
Iran's police also have destroyed satellite antenna production unit in Tehran, Zahedian said.
He also went on to note that, advertising on satellite channels is illegal, adding that, some 6200 phone lines of advertisers have been disabled during the last three years.
The use of satellite antennas in Iran is prohibited by law. However, even official information suggests that more than 40 percent of households use them.
Although the authorities have systematically carried out activities to dismantle antennas, they are usually reinstalled after several days.
