Zinc and lead factories activities halted in Iran’s Zanjan city

Zinc and lead factories activities in Iran's Zanjan city have been halted by Province Governor's order, Fars news agency reported.

According to the report, factories have been closed because obligations upon changing their locations, have not been carried out.

It should be recalled that, hundreds of Zanjan city residents gathered in front Governor and Supreme Linder's representative's office to protest air pollution caused by zinc and lead factories in the city on August 11.

Protests have been going on for several days. The protesters requested that factory's activity to be halted or its location changed to somewhere else.

Zanjan Province's Governor had promised on halting zinc and lead factories activities.

According to prior reports, there were more than 70 zinc and lead factories are active in Zanjan.
