Visiting Iran's parliamentary delegation met with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad Allaham on Saturday afternoon, IRNA reported.

Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Allaeddin Boroujerdi, after meeting with Allaham, told reporters that the visit is another opportunity to declare Iran's support for resistance axis and brotherly and friendly country of Syria.

He said, "We, as representative of Iran, are once again declaring our opposition to any kind of attack and war against Syria".

The Iranian MP, who is heading the delegation, said Iran condemns chemical weapon attack against Syrian innocent people.

He went on to say that Iran had officially told US last year that upon our information, the terrorist groups have chemical weapons, but unfortunately they did not notice our important warning.

Boroujerdi underlined that any military attack against Syria will expand beyond Syrian borders.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in Damascus on Saturday and is to meet with President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem separately on Sunday.

The delegation will also visit Lebanon and discuss issues of mutual interest with Lebanese officials, including parliament speaker.
