Iran's pickup truck output increases by 47.9 per cent

Iran's pickup truck production has increased by 47.9 per cent during the sixth Iranian calendar month (July 23- August 22) compared to the same month of the last solar year (ended on March 21), ISNA news agency reported.

According to the report, Iranian car manufacturers have produced 9032 pickups during the period, while the figure stood at 6105 during the same month of the preceding year.

Iranian Khodro Company which has the main share of the production has produced some 5388 pickups during the period.

The figure shows an increase of 72.5 per cent compared to the same period of the last solar year.

The Iranian Zamyad Co. car manufacturer has seen a 55 per cent increase in pickup production during the sixth month of the current solar year compared to the same period of the last solar year.

The company has produced 2539 of pickups during the period.

Other Iranian car manufacturers including Pars Khodro and Bahman have produced 126 and 979 pickups respectively during the period which indicates a decrease by 33 and 11.5 per cent compared to the same month of the preceding year

Some 190,394 sedan cars, 31,597 pickup trucks, 2750 trucks, 161 buses and 25 minibuses were produced in the country during the first five months of the current solar year.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, making it Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer and world's eighteenth.

Iran's automobile output faced a 40 per cent decrease in 2012. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011 with a total output of 1,648,505.

Increasing prices of raw materials and foreign currencies are the main problems the car manufacturers are facing.
