Iran's president has tasked the foreign ministry to take measures for the implementation of a security agreement with Pakistan, which calls for a boost to anti-terror cooperation between the two neighbors, IRNA reported.

The order by President Hassan Rohani follows the deaths of 14 Iranian border guards in a southeastern region on Pakistan's border.

They were killed by a group of armed men calling themselves Jaish al-Adl, who had infiltrated into Iran from Pakistan.

The incident took place in Saravan city of Sistan-Baluchestan province on Friday.

The assailants have now retreated after suffering losses.

Following the incident, Iran executed sixteen men affiliated to terrorist groups operating in the country's southeast.

Officials said they had already issued warnings that any move undermining security in the region would be retaliated
