By Umid Niayesh- Trend: Twelve people were hanged in Iran's Kerman, Kermanshah and Kurdistan Provinces.

Six peoples were hanged in Bam and Kerman of Kerman Province in the Southeast of Iran for drug trafficking, IRIB news agency reported on November 4.

It should be recalled that, the head of Iran's judiciary, Sadeq Amoli Larijani had approved the regional court's sentence.

Five people were also hanged in Kermanshah prison on November 2, ISNA news agency reported.

According to the report, the Iranian court sentenced them to death by hanging on murder charges.

Iranian media outlets also informed that Kurdish prisoner, Sherko Moarefi was hanged on November 4, in a prison in Saghez, a city in the Kurdistan province.

He was convicted of acting against national security.

Murder, rape, armed robbery and the trafficking of drugs in quantities in excess of five kilograms are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.

Iran ranks second, after China, in terms of the number of executions in the world. During the last 10 months, more than 500 people were hanged in Iran in total.
