Iran's FM Zarif to visit Italy after Geneva nuclear program talks

By Tamkin Jafarov, Saeed Isayev - Trend: Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will be visiting Italy after the Geneva nuclear talks, a diplomatic source told IRNA news agency on Nov. 7.

Zarif was invited to Italy by the country's foreign minister. In Italy, high-ranking Iranian official will meet Italian officials and discuss bilateral relations between Iran and Italy, as well as regional issues, Iran's nuclear program, Iran's talks with P5+1 group and the Syrian crisis.

Zarif reportedly will take off to Italy in the afternoon, and after Italy, will come back to Geneva.

Earlier, Zarif shared some information on his Facebook page,regarding his schedule. The minister in particular said that he will be meeting with the United Nations envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi in Geneva today.

The Syrian crisis is scheduled to be discussed during the meeting, Iranian FM wrote, adding that he will inform Brahimi about his negotiations with Turkish officials on the issue.

The Iranian FM left Paris for Geneva Nov. 6 to participate in the new round of P5+1 and Iran nuclear negotiations which are scheduled to be held in Geneva on November 7-8.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany known as the P5+1, held a new round of talks on Tehran's nuclear energy programme in Geneva on October 15 and 16.

Both sides announced that the negotiations were held in a positive atmosphere. Iran submitted a new proposal to the P5+1 during the meetings.

The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.
