Sierra Leone mines awaiting Iranian investors

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Sierra Leone welcomes Iranian investment in its iron, gold, and bauxite mines, IRNA quoted Minister of Trade and Industry, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara as saying on Feb. 4.
Sierra Leone holds 14.5 billion tons of iron ore reserve. This potential justifies the establishment of steel plants, he added.
The country also holds 300 million tons of bauxite reserve, he said, adding that it also enjoys rich gold mines.
According to Iranian Customs Administration, Iranexported $2.533 million worth of goods to Sierra Leone in 2005-2011, while it imported $27,000 worth of goods from the African country in 2010.
Iran exports about 360,000 tons of goods to Sierra Leone annually.
