Trend:

A group of about twenty Iranians sued three British banks over racial discrimination, the Guardian reported.

RBS, NatWest and Lloyds are the mentioned banks.

The Iranian nationals plan to take the banks to court for what they call misreading the sanctions policy.

They say closures are based on ethnicity. The law firm representing the Iranians - Blackstone Solicitors - also said that its clients are victims of racism and ethnic profiling in the United Kingdom.

The mentioned banks have sent letters to British citizens with Iranian backgrounds as well as Iranians living in the UK, saying they can no longer provide financial services to them.

The banks have cited Western sanctions against Iran as the reason.
