Iran's parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani has called for expansion of economic ties with Slovenia.

"The proposed suggestions for expansion of bilateral ties are acceptable," he said, Iran's ICANA News Agency reported on May 10.

He went on to note that Majlis will fully cooperate for boosting the two countries relations.

Larijani made the remarks at a meeting with his visiting Slovenian counterpart Yanku Webber.

Webber for his part said that although Slovenia is a small country, but its strategic situation in central Europe gives Iranian companies a good opportunity to participate in European markets.

Webber arrived in Tehran for an official visit on Saturday morning. A 30-member economic delegation comprising representatives of trade companies accompany Webber. The delegation also includes experts in energy, banking, electricity, telecommunications and agriculture.

Webber's visit to Iran is the first of a Slovenian high-ranking official in the past 20 years.
