Iran's Khatam-ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base held a military exercise to assess the capability of its air defense systems in dealing with probable attacks.

Lieutenant Commander of Khatam ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base, General Ali Reza Sabahi-Fard said the Mesbah-ol Hoda military exercise was held in the southeastern part of the country due to the strategic importance of the region and its neighborhood with the Persian Gulf states, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on June 7.

Missile defense, electronic and radar systems kinds were successfully tested during the one-day military exercise, he added.

On April 12, the commander of Iran's Khatam-ol-Anbiya Air Defense Base, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili, announced that Iran will hold a major air defense exercise this year, which will be significantly different from the air defense exercises previously held in Iran.

The army commander said Iran's armed forces will hold a number of military exercises during the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21.

The army will hold two military exercises in southeastern and southwestern parts of the country, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on April 18.
