Iran's Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, head of Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration of Iran, Kambiz Mehdizadeh Farsad, who is also President Hassan Rouhani's son-in-law, has resigned from his current positions, Trend reports via Iranian media.

He was appointed on Friday, last week, reports said.

"I thank you for inviting me to work in the ministry and for trusting me. I ask you for permission to resign and continue my research," Mehdizadeh Farsad said in his resignation letter addressed to Reza Rahmani, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

Mehdizadeh Farsad's appointment as the deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and the head of Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration of Iran caused serious objections among Iranians.
