Head of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization announced that the investigation into the Sanchi incident aims not to blame someone, but to find out its causes.

The Sanchi ship, manned by 32 sailors, sank after colliding with CF Crystal on Jan. 6, 2018, claiming the lives of its entire crew.

"The most important action taken by the Ports and Maritime Organization in response to the Sanchi incident was to assess its causes," Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Rastad said Thursday.

“An important part of the investigation was the lessons the Ports and Maritime Organization has learned from the incident."

“The International Ports and Maritime Organization, in the form of new regulations, could take measures to prevent recurrence of offshore events,” Rastad added.
