If necessary, Iran can enrich uranium to 20 percent within 4 days, Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters, Trend reports with reference to the Iranian state information website.
He said that however, senior Iranian officials haven’t yet made any decision on this.
He added that Iran’s nuclear industry is making progress in all areas including enrichment of uranium, heavy water production, reconstruction of Arak heavy water reactor, discovery and extraction of uranium.
Earlier, Iran said it will suspend its commitments within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The country will suspend its commitments on storage of already enriched uranium and heavy water reserves at this stage. The Supreme National Security Council of Iran gave 60 days to the countries remaining in the nuclear deal to fulfill their commitments, especially in the banking and oil sectors.
