Trend:

The weakness of Iran's transportation fleet had effected exports and limits the capacities in this field, said vice chairman in Iran Chamber of Commerce.

"The basic issues for exporters is limits and weaknesses in transportation alongside constant changes of regulations," said Mohammad Atabak , Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

"There are many problems in rail, air and maritime transportation. The situation in this field in current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) is worse than in previous years, and transport limitations would limit exports potential," he noted.

"Steel is one of the biggest trade items in the world, but we have problems in exports due to transportation issues," he indicated.

"Rail, air and maritime transportation require strong support, while the current weaknesses has negative impact on exports," he added.

"Although sanctions have not seriously affected this sector, mismanagement in transportation and lack of investment in maritime and rail transport led to the problems in this field," he said.

"One of the problems is the underdevelopment of ties with neighbor markets and the other is liquidity, since the producers have to pay high interest rates to banks," he added.
