The Ministry of Energy has seven water supply plans for Khuzestan Province that would complete the water transfer to all cities and villages in this province, said the Energy Minister, Trend reports citing ILNA.

North East, South East, Dezful, Andimeshk, Masjed Soleiman, and Ghadir are mega plans for water supply that would transfer water to 26 cities, said Ali Akbar Mehrabian.

"The second phase of Ghadir plan has slowly progressed in recent years and the President has ordered that water from Dez dam would be injected into Ghadir water network. The government's suggested method would provide access to good quality drinking water for people of Khuzestan," he indicated.

Mehrabian went on to say that credits will be provided from targeting subsidies to Ahvaz municipality for collecting surface water in Ahvaz to solve the issue of floods after rainfall.

"In regard to drought situation and low water resources in Khuzestan it has been agreed that we fully manage and control agriculture water and compliance with cultivation model," he said referring to the supply of agricultural water for the province.

The official indicated the government agenda is to diversify water supply resources and in addition to water transfer from the sea, it would use deepwater resources that are in 3 meters under the ground in the east of Iran.
