BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Iran's product imports from Russia increased by 6.3 percent in value and 109 percent in weight in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024) compared to the same month of last year, the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
According to statistics, Iran imported 205,000 tons of products worth $62.2 million from Russia in the first month.
The statistics show that in the first month of last year, Iran's imports of products from Russia amounted to about 97,700 tons worth about $58.5 million.
Furthermore, the statistics add that Iran mainly imports petrochemical products, agricultural products, glass containers, industrial products, and so on from Russia.
Additionally, it should be noted that Iran imported 3.18 million tons of products worth $1.6 billion from Russia in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024). Iran's product imports from Russia increased by 7.28 percent in value and 27.8 percent in weight compared to the previous year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
During the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024), Iran's imports of non-oil products totaled 2.4 million tons valued at $2.7 billion. Non-oil imports decreased by 11.4 percent in value terms and increased by 33.4 percent in weight terms in the first month compared to the same month last year.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing the products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured in the country.
