(Fars News Agency)- A senior European diplomat informed of Iran-EU nuclear talks said on Wednesday that Europeans, in their recent proposal to Tehran, have called on Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment for 10 to 15 years, adding that the EU officials are inclined to reduce the said period even more.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FNA correspondent in London, the diplomat said that the EU proposal requires Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment for 10 to 15 years, but meantime added that the Europeans are still prepared to reduce the period despite all the pressures the US has exerted on them in this regard, reports Trend.

He also said that the EU officials are endeavoring to bring Iran and US time demands to a kind of compromise.

Noting the difficult situation of the Europeans in Tehran's nuclear standoff, he said that the EU officials know very well that if they cannot succeed in solving Iran's case this time, the United States will force them out of the scene.

Stating that the Europeans are deeply confused at present, he continued that the EU states have not yet specified what kind of incentives might absorb Tehran's positive response.

He also asserted that providing full and sincere technical cooperation for the construction of nuclear power plants in Iran is among the incentives.

"Owners of atomic industries in Europe have declared that they welcome such cooperation provided that the US does not face them with any problems in future," the source said.

He went on to say, "Sales of parts of passenger planes, economic supports and facilitation of Iran's membership in the World Trade Organization are among these incentives, but talks are still going on in order to make the proposal sweeter to Iran."

The senior diplomat stressed that the Europeans are keen to know what kind of incentives are most desired by Tehran so as to assure of the success of their future talks with Iran.

Suspension of the construction of heavy water reactors in return for cooperation for the development of light water reactors has also been mentioned in the proposal.

He said that the United States hopes for the defeat of the EU states so that Europeans are proved to be unable to manage world affairs, gifting full responsibility of all affairs to Washington.

According to the diplomat, the EU states, Britain in particular, are not at all seeking a military solution to the issue, which constitutes their major difference with the White House.
