(hurriyet.com) - British Foreign Minister Margaret Beckett has commented that there are "many countries in the EU" that are willing to do what they can to help Turkey during its EU accession talks. Beckett, who is currently in Washington, DC, was speaking at a conference at the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies, reports Trend.

She was responding to a question about the possibility that there could be a "train wreck" involving Turkey on its path to the EU, as a result of the Cyprus issue. Beckett underlined that it was likely that any country trying to join the EU would face a variety of problems, and then said "But there is no doubt that there is a great deal of good intention in the talks participation, with the goal of coming to a good agreement. I am not only speaking of England's stance, but of many other countries in the EU."
