(IRNA) - Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Sofia Fereydoun Haqbin on Wednesday called Iran as a powerful country in the region and described Iran's role in the world and regional developments 'important.
Kalfin said without Iran's presence or participation in the regional and world affairs, especially in the Middle East and West of Asia, there would not be any possibility for a specific development.
The Bulgarian official evaluated Iran's role and effect on peace and stability in the region, especially in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East 'Important' and said Bulgaria supports Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear technology, reports Trend.
He stressed that the only way to settle Iran's nuclear dossier is dialogue and diplomacy and added the EU proposal package is an appropriate one and is a good opportunity to reach a common viewpoint and final solution.
The Bulgarian minister said that Sofia supports Iran-Europe gas pipeline and called for expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
Iran's ambassador to Sofia, for his part, explained Tehran's latest stance on its peaceful nuclear program.
He also referred to Iranian achievements in different scientific, industrial and technological fields and Iran's active and constructive role in the regional process.
