(IRNA) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Iran's nuclear policy is transparent and will benefit mankind.

Addressing a meeting of senior officials, the ayatollah highlighted Iran's positive nuclear policy, reports Trend.

"Our nuclear policy is completely transparent and it is to achieve progress in our nuclear activities, make clear our intention to produce nuclear energy for peaceful purposes as well as enforce our right to pursue a nuclear program which cannot be turned backward," said the ayatollah.

The Supreme Leader insisted suspension of uranium enrichment would not be in the interest of Iran as it achieved nothing by suspending this activity two years ago.

However, he said that "if we had not agreed to suspension two years ago, now we would possibly be blaming ourselves for not giving it a try."

Now we can move confidently and with full command of our technical resources and no one can say that we are moving in the wrong direction with our nuclear activities, the ayatollah said.

Moreover, the Supreme Leader stressed that Tehran's decision two years ago to suspend its nuclear activities was "a necessary step." He said the country already knew at that time that suspension would achieve nothing.

"We have precise documents of our suspension which will be made public at the proper time."
