(hurriyet.com) - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has checked into an Ankara hospital following a drop in his blood sugar level. Erdogan reportedly felt weak and unable to open the door of his car as he was arriving at the Turkish Parliament buildings in Ankara this morning for meetings.

He was then brought to Ankara's Guven Hospital complaining of low blood pressure, and was brought immediately to the cardiology section of the hospital, where he went through a tomography test, reports Trend.

Prime Ministerial spokesman Arif Beki said this afternoon that Erdogan's blood sugar level had dropped, and that the leader's health was "under control" at th hospital. Beki also noted that there was no reason for worry, and that "it was up to the Prime Minister" as to whether he would be participating in afternoon meetings.

The Prime Minister's own doctor told reporters that the Erdogan "needed to rest" and that he was "extremely tired." Erdogan, who has been fasting for the month of Ramazan, has had an unusually busy schedule over the past few weeks, with official visits to the US, England, and Saudi Arabia, as well as many late working nights.
