Islamic parliaments extraordinary meeting held in Geneva

(IRNA) - Upon Iran's proposal, an extraordinary meeting of 47 Islamic countries parliaments was held in Geneva Wednesday on the sidelines of Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting.

According to Majlis Media Department on Wednesday, Secretary General of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union Ebrahim Aouf in the meeting appreciated Iran's initiative to hold such a meeting and said its aim was to create common stance among Muslim countries, reports Trend.

According to the report, "Considering the existing different opinions between the countries in the meeting, Iran proposed that Islamic delegations take stance on issues like supporting rebuilding Lebanon, condemning the Zionist regime on its nuclear activities and similar issues."

Considering the importance of the issues, a number of Islamic countries parliamentary speakers attended the meeting among which were, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, Mali, Niger, omalia, Togo, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Algeria, Albania, Bahrain, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameron.

The report added," All participating Islamic countries with a common stance supported Iran, Jordan and Algeria's common proposal on Lebanon and condemned the Zionist regime."

The 115th meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union which was attended by 127 countries in Geneva, Switzerland, wrapped up its work on Wednesday.
