African civil wars aimed at securing interests of colonial powers: Ahmadinejad

(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Thursday that efforts by certain western states to destabilize and stage civil wars in Africa are aimed at securing their colonial interests.

The Iranian president's remarks came as he received the credentials of the newly appointed Angolan Ambassador to Tehran Pedro Hendrick Wallento.

Tehran believes that establishment of stability and tranquility in Africa plays a crucial role in the development and progress of the continent, he said.

Expressing happiness over the end of the civil war in Angola, President Ahmadinejad voiced Iran's readiness to exchange its experiences in the area of reconstruction of war-torn Angola, reports Trend.

Referring to the great potentials of both countries for expansion of bilateral cooperation, he said agriculture, oil and gas and industry were among the areas in which the two sides can promote their mutual relations.

Iran's foreign policy attaches special attention to expansion of ties with African states, he said, adding that there were no limits to promotion of relations between Iran and African countries.

For his part, the Angolan accredited ambassador said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported resistance of African countries, including Angola, against bullying powers and their efforts toward independence.

Angola is interested in expansion of all-out ties with Iran in different areas of trade, agriculture, oil and gas, fishery and industry, he said, adding that his country is also willing to utilize Iran's valuable experiences in the area of reconstruction.
