Iran's president arrives in Kurdestan

(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in this western city Wednesday morning for a two-day visit accompanied by a high-ranking delegation.

On hand to welcome the president and his entourage upon their arrival at the city's international airport were the representative of Vali-ye Faqih (religious jurisprudent) in Kurdestan province Moussa Moussavi, the Friday Prayer leader of Sanandaj, Governor- General Esmail Najjar, Sunni clergymen, several Majlis deputies and senior officials of the province and families of martyrs and war veterans, reports Trend.

Ahmadinejad, during this provincial visit, will meet with local residents of its various cities to discuss their problems.

He is scheduled to address provincial residents at Shahid Malek-Nia Stadium during which he will pay tribute to the province's martyrs a few minutes from now.

Sanandaj, capital of the western province of Kurdestan, has a population of over 400,000 people.

President Ahmadinejad's current provincial visit is his 20th to various provinces of the country since the start of his initiative of bringing the government closer to the people.

He and his cabinet have already visited the provinces of Tehran South Khorasan, Sistan-Baluchestan, Ilam, Qom, Hormuzgan, Bushehr, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Golestan, Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad and Khorassan Razavi, Zanjan, Markazi, Qazvin and Hamedan, East Azarbaijan, North Khorassan and Ardebil.
