UNIDO keen to expand cooperation with Iran

(IRNA) - Outgoing Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Iran Jean-Luc Bernard here Tuesday said it was his hope industrial cooperation between Iran and UNIDO would receive a further boost in line with efforts to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Jean-Luc praised Iranians as "a great nation with a very rich culture."

Mottaki, for his part, said the experience gained by diplomats in their various missions in the country can contribute to strengthening of mutual bonds and bilateral and multilateral cooperation, reports Trend.

Briefly reviewing areas of bilateral cooperation between Iran and UNIDO, he said: "A bilateral potential for boosting cooperation in the industry, environment, foreign investment and technology sectors has recently emerged."

The Iranian minister expressed hope the two sides would see further bilateral cooperation during the tenure of the new UNIDO representative in Tehran.
