(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Monday emphasized, "Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria, two important Islamic countries, shoulder important international responsibilities, reports Trend.
Speaking with Algerian President's special envoy and that country's Energy and Mines Minister Shakib Khalil, Ahmadinejad added, "Expansion of cooperation in various fields would secure the interests of the two nations, that of the Islamic world, and would lead to improving he status of international peace and security."
The president who received his Algerian counterpart's written message from the Algerian minister on Monday evening, referred to the two countries' shared viewpoints on important international issues and stressed Tehran's will to boost comprehensive ties with Algiers.
He further emphasized, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to present its experience in various fields, including peaceful nuclear technology, with our Algerian brethren."
Appreciating the brave stands adopted by the Algerian president in defense of the Iranian nation's nuclear rights, and his resolute reaction to certain countries' dictatorial tendencies in that field, he reiterated, "Iran has signed the nuclear NPT and is fully committed to its articles."
Ahmadinejad added, "We believe that must be enough to ensure the international community about the peaceful nature of our nuclear activities."
He said, "Yet, some world powers that possess enormous amounts of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and must sign much stricter treaties than the NPT in order to ensure the world nations about their abidance by international peace and security, resort to various pretexts in a bid to create obstacles in the path of our scientific activities."
Ahmadinejad added, "They would definitely fail in that regard." The Algerian Energy and Mines Minister Shakib Khalil, too, during the meeting referred to the important role played by Iran and the noticeable achievement of the Islamic Republic in various fields, arguing, "Taking advantage of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is absolute right of any country."
He also asked the Iranian president for being benefited from our country's experience in various fields, including oil, gas, and nuclear energy."
Shakib Khalil pointed out that the Iranian firms have been very successful in pursuing their projects in Algeria, adding, "Algiers is ready to expand the level of our vast joint cooperation, in order to secure both nations' interests."
