(zaman) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has received his British counterpart Tony Blair, who is on first leg of his Middle East trip.

Blair, who arrived in Ankara around 6 p.m. on Friday for a one-day working visit to Turkey, came to the prime minister's office. Erdogan welcomed Blair at his office's entrance, reports Trend.

After posing for pictures, the two leaders had a meeting that was closed to the press. Turkey's Chief EU negotiator Ali Babacan and Blair's EU advisor Kim Darroch were also present at the hour-long meeting.

No statements were made following the meeting, but it is speculated that they discussed Turkey's EU accession process, the isolations imposed on Turkish Cyprus and the recent developments in the Middle East.

A press briefing is expected to be held before the visiting premier leaves Turkey.
