Kontron NotePAC weighs a ton, is one crazy laptop

(mobilemag) - Well, it's not quite a ton, but at 13 pounds, the NotePAC from Kontron is far from being the most lightweight computing solution on the market. But damn, this thing just looks hardcore! It's even got that 80s ThinkPad matte grey finish. Let your super rugged geekdom come shining through, powered by an Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66GHz processor), up to 2 gigs of DDR RAM, and a touchscreen display measuring either 12.1- or 14.1-inches, reports Trend.

Forget bumps and bruises, the Kontron NotePAC survives the absolute worst of conditions, staying fully operational after being dropped three feet onto solid concrete, still keeping you connected in minus 36 degrees Fahrenheit weather. Shocks and vibrations are not a problem, and there's even an upgrade for low electromagnetic radiation and to protect you from atmospheric explosives "where the slightest spark could prove deadly."

The 80/120GB SATA hard drives are removable, mounted in shock-absorbing, sealed cartridges that are pretty darn rugged on their own. And you'll be connected the whole time via gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, UMTS, GSM/GPRS, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth.
