(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the Iranian nation has two huge responsibilities: building a powerful and independent Islamic Iran and meeting global expectations.

Addressing respectable citizens in this western capital city, he underlined the need to work toward a truly independent, powerful and developed Iran that can be an example to other states, reports Trend.

Noting the many obstacles planted by the enemies in the path to achieving those goals, including their opposition to its pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is now in the shortlist of countries with access to nuclear technology thanks to the hard work of its people and their officials.

Speaking of the province's rich potential, particularly in agriculture, he called for greater efforts to solve its problems.

President Ahmadinejad, accompanied by members of his cabinet, arrived in Kermanshah Tuesday for a three-day visit.

The current visit is his 23rd to various provinces of the country.

He and his accompanying cabinet ministers will hold a session in Kermanshah city later today to discuss problems and needs of the province before they return to Tehran.
