Enemies targeting Iranian unity: Ahmadinejad

Iran Materials 10 January 2007 11:41 (UTC +04:00)

(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speaking at a cabinet session here Tuesday, said that enemies are working to destroy the unity of the Iranian nation which is an obstacle to the achievement of their goals.

"Enemies are frustrated with the fruitlessness of their efforts to discredit the Iranian nation from outside the country. They now turn their efforts to sowing discord and cracking the unity enjoyed by the nation in order to obtain their goals," he said. He said enemies of the nation were behind the passage of a resolution (against the country's peaceful nuclear activities) hoping to create discontent among certain figures inside the country and thereby create fear and weaken the nation's will.

He reiterated that although his government was willing to negotiate on the nuclear issue, the right of the Iranian people to nuclear energy was non-negotiable, reports Trend.

"The opposition of certain superpowers to Iran's nuclear right is politically motivated and illegal," he declared.

Fortunately, he added, Iranians are united in their demand for this right, adding that today "the nation's demand for peaceful nuclear energy is more important than the issue of nationalization of its oil resources."

"The Iranian people will resist mightily against any attempts to deny them their rights. Threats and other incendiary statements by certain figures will not deter the nation from pursuing the honorable path."

The president further said that the fate of the nation is brilliantly etched in the skies and cannot be ignored by enemies who oppose its progress.

He said the continued resistance of the Iranian people will lead to a big, historical and decisive victory.

"It will bring development in the fields of science, industry, agriculture and medicine and Iran will top the list of countries with the most advanced technology."
