Iran to produce 15m tons petrochemicals by year-end

(www.irna.ir) - The National Iranian Petrochemical Industries Company plans to come out with 15 million tons of various
petrochemical products by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.

The company plans to export USD 3 billion worth of petrochemicals in the same period.

Actual production of petrochemicals rose from 4.3 million tons in 1991 to 15 million tons in March 2007, a three-fold rise expected in these 15 years, reports Trend.

The value of exports of petrochemical products will rise from USD 350 million in 1990 to USD 2.9 billion by year-end pointing to an eight-fold rise.

The volume of domestic consumption inside the country stood at 1.1 million tons in 1990 but will hit 6.5 million tons by the end of current year.

The National Iranian Petrochemical Industries Company currently produces 67 various kinds of petrochemicals.
