Iran, Singapore ready to bolster bilateral ties

(IRNA) - Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel called for further expansion of Iran-Singapore relations in all areas.

He made the remark in a meeting with the visiting Singaporean Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Referring to the great potential of both countries for increased cooperation, Haddad-Adel underscored the need to exploit their rich economic resources to boost their bilateral economic cooperation.

As to Iran's role in the sensitive and strategic Middle East region, he said Tehran has played a constructive and positive role in efforts to achieve stability and peace in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has played a crucial role in establishing peace and bringing opposing forces to engage in dialogue in both its neighboring states of Iraq and Afghanistan, the speaker added.

He further briefed the Singaporean official on Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

The Singaporean senior minister, for his part, referred to his country's relations with Iran as "good and growing."

He also voiced Singapore's readiness to further bolster ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the areas of economy, trade, science and technology.
