( IRNA ) - Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said Wednesday resumption of ties between Iran and Egypt would be useful for the Muslim World.

Haddad-Adel made the remarks while speaking to reporters at his weekly press conference.

" Iran regards Egypt as an important country in the Muslim World," he said praising wisdom of Egyptian people "who have played determining role in history of Islam."

He added, "Enemies of Islam are not interested in close ties between Tehran and Cairo."

The speaker stated, "Remarks made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on resuming ties with Egypt was a step to express Iran's willingness to bolster ties with Islamic states in the current year dubbed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as `Year of National Unity and Islamic Solidarity'.

"But it depends on the Egyptian government whether it can overcome its problems and materialize the issue of ties with Iran." Asked about security of tourists in Iran, Haddad-Adel said, " Iran is a safe country for the Iranian nation and foreign tourists."
