Earthquake jolts northwest Iran
( Irna ) - An earthquake measuring 3.6 degrees on the Richter scale jolted the vicinity of Harris city, east of the provincial capital city of Tabriz, East Azerbaijan province, in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 00:30 hours local time (2100GMT).
The epicenter of the quake was an area measuring 38.21 degrees in latitude and 46.86 degrees in longitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
