Airbus 380 to land in Iran for the first time

An Airbus A380 double-deck, wide-body jet airliner will land for the first time in Iran on September 30.

The plane belongs to the Emirates airlines. It will land with 525 passengers on board at Tehran's Emam Khomeini International Airport, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on September 23.

The number of international flights to and from Iran has increased by 68 percent in the fifth calendar month of current Iranian year (July 23 - August 22). A total of 7,192 international flights landed in or took off from Iranian airports in the mentioned month, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on August 25.

A total number of 36,761 flights also passed Iran's air space in the mentioned period, which 9.2 percent more than the same period previous year.

The Deputy Director of Iranian Airports Holding Company Ebrahim Shoushtari said the number of flights crossing Iranian sky has also increase significantly in the past month due the important developments in the region.

"Some 21,840 flights crossed Iranian air space in the mentioned months, which is 8,831 flights more than same month previous year," he said.

A rise in the number of international flights operated in Iran follows a boost in the number of tourists visiting the country.
