Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.27

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: No new sanctions have been imposed on Iran's oil industry, director of the International Affairs Department of the National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Ghamsari said.

"None of the previously imposed sanctions has been removed over the past months. Just, the imposition of new sanctions has been prevented," Iran's Shana news agency quoted Ghamsari as saying on September 27.

Actually, no country or company is ready to invest in Iran's oil projects, he added.

Earlier, Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh expressed optimism about the return of international oil giants to the country.

Zanganeh pointed to Iran's ongoing negotiations over the resumption of operations by international energy firms in the Islamic Republic, saying that Iranian Oil Ministry is optimistic about the return of giant foreign oil and gas companies, Press TV reported.

He also slammed Washington over its policies against Tehran. "Iran has not been able to utilize its maximum production capacity for safe and easy supply in the oil market so far due to the U.S. obstructionism."

The country requires about $70 billion of investment in upstream and downstream industries, 30 percent of which is related to downstream industries, according to the Iranian Oil Ministry.
