Iran plans to reduce electricity consumption

Iran has some 15 plans to reduce electricity consumption, Iranian Energy Ministry Official Alireza Ahmadi-Yazdi said.

Ahmadi-Yazdi said the peak of electricity consumption decreased by 1,930MW this summer, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on October 8.

Special committees have been formed to make decisions on how to reduce the electricity consumption, he added.

The peak of electricity consumption was predicted to reach 50,000MW in summer, but the registered figure was about 1,930MW less than the predicted figure, he noted.
