The Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Roknoddin Javadi officially dismissed the Managing Director of National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) Hamid Bovard.

Bijan Alipour has replaced Bovard as the new managing director of NISOC, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on October 18.

The NISOC is a government-owned corporation under the direction of the country's Oil Ministry, and operates as a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company.

It was established in 1971 in the city of Masjed Soleyman. Currently, the company is active in a land area more than 400,000 square kilometers with headquarters in Ahwaz. Iran's largest oil company NISOC produces about 3 million barrels of oil per day.

NISOC is in charge of onshore oilfields in southern Iran (like Azadegan, Yadavaran, Ahwaz Field, Gachsaran, Maroon and Aghajari) and focuses on onshore upstream activity in the province of Khuzestan. As Khuzestan is the main oil and gas-producing province, this entity is among the most significant in the NIOC family.
