Iran exported some 550,000 metric tons of dairy products in the previous Iranian calendar year (which ended on March 20).

Iran's Deputy Agricultural Jihad Minister Hassan Rokni said that Iran exported yogurt, dough (yogurt drink), cheese, and infant formula to neighboring countries in the mentioned period, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported October 19.

"Iran was previously an infant formula importer country, but now we have even started exporting the product," he said.

The Head of Iranian Dairy Industries Union Mohammad Reza Esmaeeli said October 13 that Iran is considering the possibility of exporting dairy products to Russia.

"Iran has a high potential for producing dairy products," he said, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported.

"We have sent a few teams to Russia to study the situation of the country's market," he said.

The teams will inform us about the items required in Russia and the market
prices.

"We have the potential to export any dairy products to Russia," Esmaeeli said, adding that the union would export products only if the prices don't rise domestically.

Tehran is currently studying the possibility of exporting fruits and agricultural products to Moscow.

During an official visit to Tehran by a high-ranking Russian delegation, the country officially requested Iran to increase its agricultural products and food stuff exports to Moscow in order to meet the country's domestic demands.
