Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov.11

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Two platforms of Iran's South Pars gas field phases 17 and 18 will come on stream by September 2015.

The flare of platform 18A of the gas field was lit on October 27, Iran's Shana news agency reported on November 11.

Hassan Boyeri, the development project manager of phases 17 and 18 of the South Pars, said on October 28 that the platform has 11 wells. For the time being, the well No.3 is operating.

It is projected that phases 17 and 18 of the South Pars gas field will eventually produce 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates, and 400 metric tons of sulfur per day.

They will also yield one million metric tons of ethane and 1.05 million metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) annually.

Iran is currently producing 300 million cubic meters of gas from South Pars per day.

The South Pars gas field, divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf on the common border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensate.
