Iran's fruit prices rise by 40% in one year

The Central Bank of Iran announced that fruit prices in the week to November 14 were 40 percent more expensive than the same period of time last year.

The Central Bank of Iran has also released a chart comparing the price of staple food in the mentioned week with its preceding week.

According to the report, prices of five groups of food, including fruits, rice, beans, vegetables and cow meat increased by 7 percent, 1.6 percent, 0.5 percent, 1.2 percent, 0.8 percent, and 0.3 percent, respectively, in the mentioned week.

The prices of egg, tea, and chicken meat, however, decreased by 0.1 percent, 1.7 percent, and 0.4 percent in the mentioned week.

Prices of food stuff in Iran has been on the rise in the past few years, as the administration no longer allocates the U.S. dollar at the official exchange rate for importing rice, meat, milk, edible oil, and other staple food.
