By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran is ready to export chicken meat and powdered milk to Russia, Hassan Rokni, Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister, said.

Rokni said exporting these products to Russia is dependent upon finalizing a health protocol by the two countries, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on November 19.

At present, two million metric tons of chicken meat is produced in the country, 100,000 metric tons of which can be exported, he said.

Russia needs to import 200,000 metric tons of powdered milk per year and Iran can export the product to Russia, he noted.

Gholamhossein Shafei, the chairman of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, said on September 2 that Iran has established a special working group aimed to fins new markets in Russia and boost food exports to the country.

We are planning to use maritime transportation capacities in Amirabad, Noshahr, Anzali, and Astrakhan ports, as well as road transportation capacities in Sarakhs Special Economic Zone in this regard, he said.

The Russian market welcomes Iranian citrus fruits, kiwi, pomegranate, and grape, as no Central Asian country raises citrus fruits, he said.

Russia wants to import Iranian food products after Moscow imposed a ban on the import of most agricultural products from the Western countries.
